School Curriculum
At New Close School our children are at the heart of everything we do.
Our vision is to create an environment where children develop a love of learning, a thirst for knowledge and aspire to be the best they can be. Therefore, we plan for our curriculum to engage, be relevant and meet the needs of all those within our school.
Our learners are supported to develop their skills and become responsible, independent and resilient both within school and for the society they will be part of in their future.
We are taking care to develop a dynamic and rich curriculum, which is sequential and progressive, building upon skills and knowledge taught and revisiting concepts frequently.
We believe that children should become proficient in the core areas of reading, writing and mathematics thus enabling them to access the wider curriculum and allowing them to prepare for the next stage of their education. All subjects, where possible, are woven into cross-curricular topics. Here, the topics are relevant to New Close children and provide a context to their learning, making links to the communities within our school and the wider Warminster community. This includes links to our military and multi-cultural community. Where this is not possible, subjects are taught discretely in blocks of learning. Within this, we aim to provide our children with a rich bank of curricular and non curricular experiences.
